Unlike most sports, polo requires active spectator participation. Even before leaving for a polo match you will want to prepare a picnic.
Once you arrive at the game, be sure to park only in the designated parking spaces - at least 10 yards away from the side of the field and not at the end of the field. The object is to park by the game, not in it.
Once you arrive and are parked, greet your neighbors on either side of your parking area, open your picnic and prepare for a delightful afternoon.
Remember the following points:
Keep your eye on the ball and horses while the game is in progress. Action can extend beyond the edge of the field.
Dogs must be on a leash at all times. Loose dogs may be a distraction or even a hazard to the match and spectators alike. Please clean up after your dog to ensure clean and safe grounds for everyone.
Children must be kept close at hand at all times. Remain alert for your children and others around you.
Spectators play an important part in keeping the course safe and in excellent condition. After the 3rd and 6th chukkers, fans are invited out on the playing field to tread in the turf and "replace the divots", just like in golf. This is also an opportunity to walk off some of the effects of your picnic.
At the end of the day, help us thank the landowners who generously provide these fields for the competition. Please leave your area as clean as you found it.
Join us again next Sunday.
